Hi there. Thanks for being here :)
I've been in love with audio since I can remember, and I've been slowly building my studio (pictured below) for over 10 years.
LeftEyeRightEye is about music, but I wanted to post a bit once about my philosophy.
Growing Up
I grew up as a brown kid in a small, majority white town. I struggled with my identity a lot growing up. Not knowing why I was being treated differently, dealing with racism and really just trying to fit-in.
This was then magnified after the 2001 attacks on the twin towers, when 11-year-old me was being called towel-head and sand-nigger, not even understanding why because I'm not even middle-eastern (goes to show the ignorance of racists 🙄).
My parents and grandparents grew up in the South Bronx, where they experienced their own forms of racism. My mother specifically didn't teach me Spanish because she didn't want me to have any accent.
Civil Rights
I've felt much more passionate about civil rights as I've grown up and in order to feel more connected with my roots, I now champion up and coming indie Latinx artists and Latinx rappers/hip-hop artists.
I want first and second-generation American, BIPOC artists to know they're not alone. I want them to know that others have struggled with fitting in. For me, the power of music has been my way to vent and show the world what I am really made of.
I want to be a source of inspiration for others to feel that power too.
Nice To Meet You
I'm glad you're here and I'm glad that we're on this journey together <3
